Designer Motomi Kawakami expresses “relaxation with a sense of tension,” through a design with an architectural feel that imbues the user with a sensation of tranquility. With a simple, clean construction, the seat and back meet to form a gentle angle that firmly supports the body.
“It has a newness, somewhat of a lustrousness,” says Kawakami. The armchair’s roomy seat width and balance of a high back and slender frame create an especially beautiful shape perfect for setting a formal scene. The side table, with the same height as the arms, can be placed next to or between chairs to create a modern gathering space. SETTE can give a light sense of upscale beauty to hotel and office lobbies as well as other large public spaces.
